The Pope Just Bought an '84 Renault to Replace the Custom Mercedes

He did say he was going to be a humble pope...but nobody thought it would be this humble.

When Pope Francis was elected, he said he was going to be "a humble pope" and even urged people to drive "humble cars." Everybody assumed that this would mean he forgo the 24k gold banana hammocks and last dodo bird meals of his predecessors [citation needed]. As it turns out, he was really serious about being humble; he just replaced the custom Mercedes of Darth Pope Benedict XVI with a 1984 Renault 4 with about 190,000 miles on the odometer that was given to him by a priest named Fr. Renzo Zocca. 

He plans to use this as his primary mode of transport.

We're thinking of it as charitable giving to the Pope's favorite mechanic.
