Car manufacturers often have to create the technology that they need to get innovative new projects off of the ground. For the Lexus LFA, engineers decided that adding carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to the chassis would make for a better, stronger body than the original plan of an aluminum body over an aluminum chassis. Lexus created this 6-foot-wide loom that weaves carbon-fiber into specific shapes, depending on where it will go on the LFA.
