Atlanta Hawks Are Eyeing Monta Ellis

Is this a good fit?

USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks aren't getting Josh Smith back, but they're still trying to stack up to make a run next season. Atlanta has signed Kyle Korver and Paul Millsap to join forces with forward Al Horford. The next talent they're looking at is Monta Ellis. Atlanta has previously tried to get Ellis at the trade deadline.

Other teams like the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets have shown some interest in the guard, but the Atlanta Hawks' cap space allows them to give Ellis a decent offer. The Hawks have $10 million available to use on Ellis, while Dallas' $9 million-plus acquisition of Devin Harris and Denver's tight budget make matching Atlanta's potential offers difficult.

Would Ellis be a good acquisition for the Hawks? Would a new team prevent Ellis from experiencing another first-round sweep?
