Almost a year ago, we posed a very simple question in reference to Chad Johnson: "Badass or Jackass?" We just discovered the definitive answer.

Earlier today, Johnson appeared in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. courtroom to answer to a judge after he allegedly violated the probation he received following a domestic violence incident involving his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. And things appeared to be going OK for Johnson in the proceedings. His lawyer presented a plea deal that would have called for Johnson to receive absolutely no jail time, and Johnson was likely going to walk out of the courtroom a free man. But then, Chad Johnson pulled a Chad Johnson and pissed off the judge.

How did he do it? Well, he slapped his lawyer on the butt shortly after the judge told him to thank his lawyer for doing such a good job with working out the plea deal. And that didn't sit well with Judge Kathleen McHugh, who felt as though Johnson wasn't taking things serious enough. So she changed her mind and turned down the plea deal and, instead, handed Johnson 30 days in jail and extended his probation for an additional three months. He tried to apologize for his misguided antic, but she wasn't having any of it.

So now we have a new question when it comes to Chad Johnson: Is this guy serious? Just last week, we saw him on First Take pleading for another chance to play in the NFL. And then he goes and pulls a stunt like this? We would love nothing more than to see him play in the league again. But we wouldn't be surprised at all if this incident puts the final nail in the coffin and kills off his NFL career once and for all. What a total jackass.
