The United States has formally filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against Lance Armstrong and his company Tailwind Sports for breach of contract with sponsor, the U.S. Postal Service, due to the 7-time Tour de France winner's use of performance-enhancing drugs.
The court documents claim that "the USPS paid approximately $40 million to sponsor the USPS cycling team from 1998 to 2004." The government is seeking triple the amount of the sponsorship, or more than $100 million in damages, under the False Claims Act.
