Vampire Weekend is very, very sorry for what they did to a couple of Saab 900s in their new music video for the song "Diane Young."

Recently, the band's production company purchased the used cars from private owners so that they could burn them in the video (the first line from the song is "You torched a Saab like a pile of leaves"). But, earlier this week, a Jalopnik writer called the band out for burning the cars and revealed that the previous owners of the cars had no idea that they were selling their prized possessions to the band so that they could be torched. So, yesterday, Vampire Weekend issued a sincere apology for the miscommunication.

"I want people to understand that we do respect cars and the last thing we want to do is to fuck up a collector's item," VW's Ezra Keonigsaid. "Hopefully, people believe me when I say that our record label was trying to purchase the cheapest, oldest cars possible…From what I understand, those old ones actually had a lot of electrical problems."

Are you buying Vampire Weekend's apology? Or, do the previous Saab 900 owners still have a legitimate beef with the band?
