We;re big proponents of hydrogenin cars; it can be synthesized from water using renewable energy, it can operate either batteries through a fuel cell system or be burned in a combustion engine, and a hydrogen powered car can be filled as quickly as a gasoline powered car. The energy density is surely a hurdle, but we'd be willing to see a drop in cars' power to have a completely clean motoring future.
At the 24 Hours of Nurburgring (May 17th to May 20th), Aston Martin is going to unveil a limited edition roadster that will take styling cues from the legendary 1956 DBR/1 race car, and a hydrogen powered Rapide sedan.
The Rapide will feature a 500 horsepower engine that can run on either hydrogen or gasoline, and the car is set to run the first ever zero emission pace lap. "I believe this hydrogen hybrid technology is the way to zero emissions in 20, 30 or 40 years' time," said Aston's CEO Ulrich Bez.
