At 38, Alex Rodriguez still looks like he's in great shape. But, apparently, looks can be deceiving.

According to sources who spoke with ESPN earlier today, A-Rod is going to need to have surgery on his left hip in January to repair an injury that was discovered recently. The surgery will put him on the DL for at least four months and could eventually force him to miss the first half of the 2013 MLB season. And, that's not going to bode well for the Yankees, who are already looking for help with their infield with Derek Jeter recovering from a broken foot that he sustained in the playoffs in October.

Yankees officials are expected to speak out about Rodriguez's injury at the annual MLB winter meetings this week. But, for now, things don't sound good for A-Rod or the Yankees. Stay tuned.
