Mitsubishi Doubles Down on US Market, Hires U.S. Chairman for First Time in Years

Perhaps this means that we might get something worthwhile that isn't the EVO.

It's no secret that Mitsubishi is a struggling brand in the United States; the line up is very limited and not at all competitive. There's the Lancer, which is inefficient and has an atrocious Bob-the-Builder-grade interior, the Lancer Evolution which is brilliant, the Galant, which is quite simply the worst sedan money can buy, the Outlander Sport, which is a decent CUV, despite pretty much just being a Lancer on stilts, and the electric only i-MiEV.

Abroad, Mitsubishi is a competitive brand, offering a variety of cars that many Americans haven't heard of, like the Triton pick-up truck, a gas-powered minicar, and the Mirage hatchback. In order to compete better in the American market, Mitsubishi has appointed a U.S. Chairman for the first time since 2007.

How long do you think it will take to turn Mitsubishi into a brand of cars that only sell due to incentives to a real, competitive brand?
