If there is a single vehicle that most anime geeks can agree upon as the most iconic of all time it is certainly the sick custom joint that Shotaro Kaneda pushed in Akira. The all red body is instantly recognized, even by folks who have never seen the groundbreaking 80's anime flick, as one of the coolest rides ever. That being said, the announcement that someone has actually built this thing, to astonishing detail, is naturally big news for geeks everywhere.

Check out this short video of the bike, built by Shinji Tejima of the Showa Studio over the course of seven years for approximately 10 million yen (US $121,000) in action. The bike is currently being toured around Japan to raise money for children’s autism research.
