Australia's fifth richest man, billionaire Clive Palmer has linked up with a Chinese shipyard with plans to build Titanic II. Although the ship will be outfitted with exact detail from the original ship, the new luxury boat will use the most up-to-date technology and safety equipment. Palmer and CSC Jinling Shipyard plan to have the mammoth build by 2016. From Shanghai, it will travel to London with Chinese Navy escorts, and from there, it will recreate the same voyage as the Titanic to New York. Palmer makes it clear he has the resources nobody else has.

"Many people have attempted to do it before, but have failed, because they didn't have the buy-in of a shipyard and they didn't have the money to pay for it," he said. "We've got the money, we've got the shipyard, and we're moving very heavily to commence construction and to bring this ship into service."

It's a good thing they plan to bring the Navy. We've heard icebergs don't stand a chance against torpedoes.
