Start or Sit? Complex Sports Fantasy Football Tips (Week 16)

Check out who should be in your lineup and those you should avoid at all costs in the most important game of them all.

If you have made it this far in your fantasy football season, congratulations. Should we expect a thank you card in the mail anytime soon? It's okay, we know you're far too busy stressing over configuring the best lineup possible that will bring home the championship. So, in an effort to not inundate you with endless amounts of stats and everything else, we have condensed our analysis to nice bite-size morsels. Here is Start or Sit? Complex Sports Fantasy Football Tips (Week 16). Good luck!

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts (THU, 8:20 ET)

START: RB Ben Tate
SIT: RB Donald Brown
With the Texans guaranteed a playoff spot, you have to wonder how much they’re going to use Arian Foster in this game. But besides that, for the last couple of weeks, Ben Tate has been taking away carries from Foster at an alarming rate, so roll with Tate at the flex spot if you’re in a crunch.

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: WR Torrey Smith
SIT: RB Peyton Hillis
If you’re in a league where you need to start three receivers, Torrey Smith may be a good as they come. Surprisingly, the Ravens rookie receiver has 4 more touchdowns on the season than their #1 wideout, Anquan Boldin. Boldin is set to have knee surgery on Thursday to repair his torn meniscus, so expect a lot of looks in Smith’s direction.

Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: WR Demaryius Thomas
SIT: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
Has Demaryius Thomas become Tim Tebow’s new favorite receiver? It sure looks like it. In his last three games. Thomas has amassed 338 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. It all sounds like must-start material, except when you factor in who is throwing the ball his way. If you’re down with taking risks at this stage of the game, start Demaryius and keep those fingers crossed.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: RB DeAngelo Williams
SIT: CAR Defense
What a loooong season for DeAngelo Williams owners. But if you’ve survived up until now, all that hate for DeAngelo may dissipate after Saturday’s game against the Bucs and their horrible run defense, which gives up an astounding 141 rushing yards per game! Need we say more?

Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: WR Jerome Simpson
SIT: CIN Defense
The status on Cincy’s #1 receiver, A.J. Green, is very much in the air. So, just in case Green is unable to play on Saturday, start Jerome Simpson with confidence. Do we need to remind you of the last game A.J. missed this season and Simpson racked up 152 yards against the Ravens?  Well, we did.

Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: KC Defense
SIT: WR Darrius Heyward-Bey
Just because Heyward-Bey had a great performance last week doesn’t mean you take a chance on him with the championship on the line. The Chiefs pass defense is a lot better than Detroit’s. Just ask the Packers receiving corps. Whatever you do, don’t take a ride on the Raiders receiver carousel; you’ll only end up nauseous at the end.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: RB Reggie Bush
SIT: RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
Don’t look now, but Reggie Bush is on pace to have 1,000+ rushing yards in a season. So, he must be doing something right on the offensive end. As a newfound threat out of the backfield in both the rushing and passing game, Bush should pile on the total yardage with at least one score. That’s pretty solid RB2 material right there.

New York Giants @ New York Jets (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: WR Santonio Holmes
SIT: WR Hakeem Nicks
This is a receiving battle through and through. The Jets’ wideouts should be able to take advantage of the below-average Giants’ secondary, while every receiver on Big Blue besides Hakeem Nicks will see plenty of looks. With the aforementioned Nicks stuck on Revis Island, all those fears that were once felt will come back in horrifying fashion.

Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: RB Roy Helu
SIT: Toby Gerhart
Roy Helu has four straight games with at least 23 carries. In three of those games, he’s broken the 100-yard mark. Even against a tough Vikings rush defense, the amount of touches he’s seeing makes him a flex start. Don't be fooled by Gerhart's two receiving touchdowns last week. With Peterson back, he's not somebody you should be starting in a playoff game.

St. Louis Rams @ Pittsburgh Steelers (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: RB Rashard Mendenhall
SIT: QB Ben Roethlisberger (Injured)
The Rams are dead last in the league in rushing yards allowed at 153.4, and Ben Roethlisberger will be sitting on the sidelines as he heals for the playoffs. Both point to a perfect opportunity for Mendenhall to have a huge game.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans (SAT, 1:00 ET)
START: RB Chris Johnson
SIT: QB Matt Hasselbeck
We’re pretty shocked that Matt Hasselbeck is still expected to start this game. He’s been battling multiple injuries, has thrown one touchdown to five interceptions in his past five games, and Jake Locker has the Titans under much better control in his few appearances this season. Apparently Tennessee doesn’t have the cajones to hand the tiny playoff string they are grasping to a rookie.

San Diego Chargers @ Detroit Lions (4:05 ET)
START: QB Philip Rivers
SIT: Both Defenses
This game features two bros with massive arms. One young quarterback leading an emotionally-charged and mistake-prone group, the other a veteran trying to salvage a rough season and prove that he's still the elite leader people saw him as at the start the year. Sounds like a recipe for plenty of big plays to us.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys (SAT, 4:15 ET)
START: RB Felix Jones
SIT: WR DeSean Jackson
What a merry-go-round the Cowboys backfield has been this year. Jones has more than made up for the loss of DeMarco Murray with two straight games of over 100 yards, and Philly has given up 324 total yards to the top three running backs they have faced. As for Jackson, he suffered an elbow contusion last week and only has 121 yards over the past three games.

San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks (SAT, 4:15 ET)
START: TE Vernon Davis
SIT: QB Alex Smith
Davis hasn’t been flashy or put up huge number this year, but he’s a solid option this week. He’s coming off one of his best games of the year with 72 yards and a touchdown, and he caught five passes the first time the 49ers played the Seahawks this year.

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers (SUN, 8:20 ET)
START: WR Donald Driver
SIT: RB Marion Barber
Mid-season, this looked like it was setting up to be the best game of the regular season. Now, it might just be a game that dads fall asleep during after their Christmas feast. Considering virtually all of Chicago’s offensive weapons are injured, and you already know who to start on Green Bay, I’m going to propose an intriguing start for deep leagues with Donald Driver. Greg Jennings is out, and Driver has three touchdowns in the past three games. With Jermichael Finley dropping passes, Rodgers might be more confident throwing to a sure-handed vet.

Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints (MON, 8:30 ET)
START: WR Julio Jones
SIT: RB Chris Ivory
Yes, Ivory has had three straight games with at least 13 carries, but he has no touchdowns, there’s a chance Mark Ingram might start, and the Saints aren’t going to all of a sudden stop passing so much. With this much on the line, it’d be better to just walk away from this guy.
