Four years ago the local Mexico City government promised to bring bike roads to the citys streets. As the promised completion date draws nearer and only about 1.3 miles stand completed a group of guerrilla cycling infrastructure advocates have established the Wikicarril (Wikilane) project, devising their own solution to the problem. For less than $1000 the project has managed to paint over 3 miles of bike lanes around the Congress building located in the city, offering a real solution to the citys traffic congestion problem and making a powerful statement to its government.
