David Beckham, Thierry Henry, and Other Soccer Stars Set a Ridiculous New Record

We're really not all that impressed.

This is a publicity stunt if we've ever seen one. Recently, Major League Soccer called the good folks at the Guinness World Records and asked them to come out to Herald Square in New York City to watch a handful of soccer stars and a bunch of fans break a world record—the most consecutive penalty kicks taken. MLS All-Stars David Beckham and Thierry Henry, U.S. women's national team star Alex Morgan, and actor Dominic Monaghan were all on hand to help set the record of 742, besting a mark of 525 that was set just a few weeks ago at the women's World Cup.

Um, nice job? We guess... [via MLS Soccer]
