A diamond anniversary is a big feal. So to celebrate its 75-year partnership with the British Formula 3 series, Cooper Tires decided to shine the attention on its boo in a big way with a set of diamond-encrusted race slicks.
The one-off set of rubbers showed up to a press opp, rolling on driver Rupert Svendsen-Cook's Formula 3 car, though it understandably didn't see any track time. Cooper tapped London jeweler JK Diamonds to bedazzle their logo letters with a combination of real diamonds and Swarovski crystals, which were then affixed to the tires with a really, really, REALLY strong adhesive.
So will icy tires be the next frontier of automotive styling? Somehow we don't see mounting the hardest precious stone on the planet to a soft, semi-disposable compound catching on. But hey, you never know—there's some stupid stuff going on out there. Ever see truck nuts?
