Comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael has established himself as a prominent voice in the entertainment industry over the course of the last few years, with his hit series The Carmichael Show and notable roles in film turning him into a household name. Fresh off the debut of his HBO special 8, Carmichael is the latest guest on Complex's Sneaker Shopping

In this episode, Carmichael links with Joe La Puma at Zero's in Los Angeles to chop it up about sneakers and life while browsing the shelves for some new kicks. They immediately connect off their time as former Finish Line employees, where Carmichael says he was undervalued. "All due respect to the company, [I was] a little under underpaid for the amount of shoes that I moved. And insoles."

Later, Carmichael talks about how shoes can boost an individual's self-esteem, and how Jay Z recognized him off his footwear. "The first time I met Jay Z he referred to me as 'the comedian who wears Timbs all the time.' Lenny S said, 'Yeah, man, you gotta keep the Timbs on. How's he going to recognize you?'"

Carmichael also shares his thoughts on Kanye West and whether the Chicago artist has said or done anything outlandish enough for people to stop wearing Yeezys.
