This Weekend's Essential Sneaker Drops: Week Of July 16 2016

Do we have any hope of catching a pair of Tassie Tigers?

None

If you manage to tear yourself away from catching Pokemon this weekend (and haven’t blown stacks on microtransactions), let’s get to picking up some fire releases. And let’s be real, you probably fucked up your Jordans or Yeezys strolling through some suspect places catching 400 Magikarp to evolve, so let’s get you sorted with some fresh new kicks to take over some more gyms.

BEAMS x mita x ASICS Gel Lyte III “Souvenir Jacket”

Proving once again that Japan is always on the absolute bleeding edge of fashion, Japanese powerhouses mita sneakers and BEAMS team up with ASICS for a triple collaboration that represents their homeland to the fullest. Taking inspiration from the popular souvenir jacket, the all black upper is comprised of a quilted textile base with suede overlays. Sitting on a blacked midsole that features camo highlights on the outsole, the shoe is lowkey luxe. The highlights are the embroidered logos and branding, with BEAMS and mita branding on the split-tongues and a scripted “Japan” on the heel counter, but the best bit is a detailed embroidered Tiger head on the left heel, with the character for “happiness” (amongst other meanings) on the opposite heel. Previously only released in Japan, look forward to the worldwide release this Saturday.

adidas Originals Stan Smith “999 Three Nine Fives”

Nike Sock Dart SE (Mens/Womens)

My personal pick for anyone that has completely trashed their favourite pair of cozy sneakers this week while trying to catch ‘em all. One of the most comfortable silos in Nike Sportswear’s catalogue right now (next to the all-powerful Air Presto), the Sock Dart drops in 6 different colourways this week, with my preference being the men’s only olive/orange combination. Everybody loves a bit of military-inspired footwear, and this very Undefeated-inspired drop is sure to please.

adidas Ultra Boost “Triple White” (Mens/Womens)

Heading to the snow soon but you still want to be all about camo? Well, adidas is set to drop an ALL-WHITE version of their ridiculously popular UltraBOOST silhouette so you can blend in with your (hopefully) powder white snow. Hell, with possible snow forecast in Melbourne this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some people lining up in all white #fashun gear, just itching to get their feet into these shoes to complete that Stormshadow look.

Where? HypeDC (Select stores), USG (Adelaide)

Nike Air Jordan 14 Retro OG “Oxidized Green”

The latest Air Jordan drop is the original oxidized green colourway of the 14 silhouette. Featuring a clean combination of smooth and tumbled white leather, the whole package is offset with black highlights along the midsole, Columbia, ahem, Legend Blue hints on the Ferrari-styled Jumpman ankle logo and very subtle oxidized green highlights in the midsole. One of the more subdued Jordan releases in recent memory, look for these this weekend at your favourite basketball sneaker store.
