Although we're still a few days away from finalizing our weekly sneaker release guide, it looks like we can already confirm that this weekend's most limited release will be the 3D-printed New Balance Zante Generate.
That's because the brand made only 44 pairs of the shoe, which will have the distinction of being the first commercially available 3D-printed running sneaker. We first covered New Balance's foray into 3D-printing back in November following the brand's official announcement, and now it's coming full circle with the release of the Zante Generate.
The Zante Generate is powered by New Balance's DuraForm TPU Elastomer technology, which makes up the midsole and as is said to offer the same levels of flexibility, durability, weight, and strength as traditional tooling. New Balance worked closely with 3D Systems to make the project happen.
As a nod to New Balance owner Jim Davis's 44th year of ownership, the brand will roll out 44 pairs of the Zante Generate at newbalance.com and Boston's New Balance Experience Store at 583 Boylston Street for $400 apiece. Take a closer look at the tech in action below.
