Michael Jordan is the latest celebrity to speak out against North Carolina's controversial HB2 law, which many have called discriminatory against the LGBT community.
The UNC alumni and Charlotte Hornets owner issued a statement to The Charlotte Observer, saying that the Hornets "are opposed to discrimination in any form" and have "always sought to provide an inclusive environment."
"As has been the case since the building opened, we will continue to ensure that all fans, players and employees feel welcome while at work or attending NBA games and events at Time Warner Cable Arena," Jordan said.
One of the HB2 law's most outspoken critics has been the NBA, which is currently slated to hold next year's All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. Commissioner Adam Silver has gone on record saying the bill is "problematic" for the league and could cause 2017's All-Star event to change locations altogether, so this statement from Jordan could be the GOAT's way of trying to talk some sense into North Carolina's legislators to ensure that the All-Star festivities stay in Charlotte.
