At this point, fast fashion brands cranking out struggle Yeezy Boost knock-offs is nothing new. We've seen it from lesser-known brands like Havik and Bershka, as well as major players like Zara, and all of them have one thing in common; they're probably not going to fool anyone. Still, that hasn't stopped others from jumping on the bandwagon, and the latest brand to do its best Yeezy impression is Canada-based Aldo.
Aldo is best known for offering affordable versions of trendy high-end footwear, but this one may be taking it too far. The brand's Alalisien sneaker, which released last month, uses a similar shape and many design elements of the adidas Yeezy 750 Boost, but ends up looking like nothing more than a nameless, swagless knock-off of its inspiration. The worst part, however, is that Aldo has the nerve to charge $125 for these things, money that could instead be spent on a shoe that isn't a straight up imitation.
To hear Aldo tell it, the Alalisien features "wrap laces [that] put an edgy stamp on a street high-top sneaker shaped from smooth suede," and judging by the product reviews, there are actually people out there who are digging these. One customer says the Alalisien is "definitely a neckbreaker," but we're going to go ahead and assume that's because people are looking on in disgust, not admiration. Another calls the sneaker "perfection," and apparently they're not alone—the grey colorway is almost completely sold out.
