DeMarcus Cousins may be notorious for being one of the NBA's biggest hot heads, but don't let it ever be said that the Sacramento Kings center doesn't have a heart of gold.
As it turns out, Cousins is quite a philanthropist too. Tonight, as the Kings play host to the Phoenix Suns, the big man will support the fight against epilepsy by writing "End Epilepsy" and "#TeamAria" on his sneakers. The latter is a reference to the daughter of one of Cousins' close friends who was diagnosed with the disease at only six months of age. "She ended up undergoing brain surgery and has been seizure free ever since. She's an incredible kid with a inspiring story, and I'm honored to do anything I can to help promote epilepsy awareness," Cousins said of Aria.
Tonight's game precedes what is known as Purple Day on Saturday, which is a day intended to raise awareness, education, and advocacy for epilepsy. Cousins' hand-tagged, game-worn sneakers will later be offered via a silent auction through the Sacramento Kings and the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California.
