A Man Has Been Sentenced to Life Without Parole For Killing Someone For Air Jordans

A man convicted of killing for Air Jordans has been sentenced to life without parole.

22-year-old Joshua Woods lost his life in December 2012 over a the newly released Air Jordan XI "Bred" sneakers, and today the first verdict was reached for one of the men responsible. Neal Bland was 18-years-old at the time of the crime, and was convicted of capital murder today, along with a life without parole sentence, reportsABC 13.

Bland and a group of friends followed Woods home after he purchased the high-profile sneakers, and gunned him down during the robbery. ABC reports that the defense tried to argue that it was not his intent to kill, the evidence proved otherwise. "When you're committing an aggravated robbery with a gun and you intentionally fire at the victim 14 times that your intent was to kill and that that is capital murder," said Assistant Harris County District Attorney Angela Weltin. Let this tragedy serve as both a reminder and warning that no pair of sneakers is worth someone's life.
