To the average American sneakerhead, the Le Coq Sportif brand is likely best known for its retro style running sneakers, but to those in the know, the French imprint is something of a sportswear legend. For its next collaboration, Hanon will shed some light on the Le Coq Sportif legacy in the form of the R1000 model.

For this project, Hanon looked to Le Coq Sportif's early roots in the late 1800s as a cotton jersey manufacturer. As its status as a knit specialist grew, the brand would go on to outfit professional rugby and soccer players and cyclists, but its origins could always be traced back to cotton jersey, which Hanon has used liberally on this collaboration.

Ditching the synthetic overlays and rubberized components usually found on the R1000, Hanon has opted for a mix of pigskin nubuck, closed mesh, and of course, cotton jersey to bring this brick red and bright orange collab together. Inside, a laminated calfskin footbed adds a nice balance of elegance and comfort.

This co-branded project will be released exclusively at Hanon on Saturday, December 5.
