It's been a memorable week for sneakerheads with Nike's official announcement of the Nike Mag and its much ballyhooed "power laces."
Making its debut on the feet of Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox during an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the world got a glimpse of the futuristic technology and what to expect from next year's release. But how do the power laces actually work? Forbes recently took a look at the patent for the lacing system and detailed its functionality. The laces utilize a motorized system which is incorporated in both the foot and ankle regions and features a multitude of moving parts. Sensors automatically detect body mass which activates the power laces while a set of green and red buttons allow for fit adjustment. For a more detailed breakdown of the Mag's tech, head over to Forbes now to read the article in its entirety.
