Established in 2004 in Norfolk, Virginia's Ghent District, sneaker shop and clothing boutique Commonwealth has developed a reputation for its excellent mix, stocking brands like COMME des GARÇONS Play, Stüssy, Dime, and A.P.C. alongside its in-house line of clothing that mixes streetwear staples like coaches jackets, caps, and long sleeve tees with homages to thinking man's style icons like Bruce Lee, Gregory Isaacs, and H.R. from Bad Brains.

Commonwealth spread its wings when it opened up its second outpost in Washington, D.C. in 2007, gaining a foothold (pun not intended) as one of the premier men's shops in the nation's capital. Recent shoe collabs like the Asics Gel Lyte V "Gemini" and its successor, the Asics Gel Lyte V "Da Vinci" have proven the 11-year-old shop still has what it takes when it comes to making clean, forward-thinking sneakers.

Now, co-founder Omar Quiambao has set his sights across the sea for Commonwealth's next location. We're excited to drop this Instagram teaser for Commonwealth Philippines. Given the heavy Filipino-American population of Commonwealth's original home, and Quiambao's own Filipino heritage, the country makes perfect sense for the brand's first international venture, and feels like a homecoming of sorts.

According to the new shop's Instagram account, @commonwealth_ph, the spot will be located at the SM Aura Premier in the bustling Philippine city of Manila. Expect more information to be available in the coming months as this project develops.
