A few months back, we imagined what it would be like if Hender Scheme created natural leather homages to some of your favorite sneakers including the ASICS Gel-Lyte III. Now, instead of a reinterpretation, we're getting the real thing straight from ASICS itself.

These vegetable tanned leather ASICS Gel-Lyte IIIs were previewed today by @guccipaul_mrleaker. Limited to just 300 pairs worldwide, they're made in Japan and will retail for $500.

The natural leather construction means that these will break in and patina with wear, resulting in a pair that is uniquely the wearer's own. Unlike Hender Scheme's creations, these Gel-Lyte IIIs retain their original midsole and cushioning and are capped off with a gum outsole.

There's no set date for these yet, but it might be a smart move to just go ahead and start saving now. We'll let you know when to expect a release as soon as we hear an update.
