There was a time when adidas put multiple athletes' faces on the tongues of their signature sneakers, most notably Stan Smith. Other received the treatment, too, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The practice, though, has been phased out for the most part by the brand. But one of its top tennis stars, Novak Djokovic, is bringing this look back in time for the U.S. Open.
Adidas has decided to pull off this move one of its Barricade tennis sneakers. It might not be the best looking street shoe, but it's cool to see if the brand is able to do these for other athletes or artists. Kanye, anyone?
