Months back, we reported that Nike was courting the University of Michigan in efforts to sway the school away from adidas. ESPN's Darren Rovell has confirmed that the transition is officially in the books.

For the first time in almost a decade, Michigan will once again don the Swoosh beginning in August of 2016 for a deal that extends through 2027 with an option to extend to 2031. This means that Michigan's football and baseball squads will wear Nike products — however, the basketball teams will wear Jordan Brand, Rovell says.

That's a disappointment for those who recall the Nike days of the Fab Five.

Although the financial terms of the new deal have not been made public, it's safe to assume that it took a sizable chunk of cash to pull Michigan away from adidas. In 2007, adidas signed the Wolverines to an $82 million deal which, at the time, was the priciest in all of college athletics.
