Every year, the Nike Hyperdunk serves as one of the most versatile options available for ballers. Its well-rounded setup allows players of all sizes and skill levels to excel, but the performance sneaker has yet to win over the lifestyle crowd. That could very well change with 2015's installment, which was unveiled by Nike today.

Conceptualized by Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director Leo Chang, the Hyperdunk 2015 takes its inspiration from a rather unlikely source: the Nike Mag. Design cues such as an exaggerated collar and minimal upper have been lifted from the Mag to give the Hyperdunk 2015 a modern edge.

"The Hyperdunk 2015 combines a progressive design aesthetic inspired by the NIKE MAG, with technical obsession on the upper, midsole, and outsole. Our goal was to make this the best-performing Hyperdunk from top to bottom," Chang said.

For those who don't have short memories, they can recall that there was a "Mag" version of the original Hyperdunk.

Nike touts the final product is a sneaker that feels like a high-top, but performs like a low. In other words, you'll have all the support and protection necessary while remaining quick, responsive, and low to the ground. While there aren't any technical innovations here, the Hyperdunk 2015 looks like an ideal blend of all of Nike Basketball's current tech.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2015 "Bright Crimson" (pictured above) will launch on July 1, while the white colorway pictured below will be available on August 1. Nike's @heidiburgett has also confirmed that four additional colorways will release by September 30.
