Nestle's not just in the chocolate business anymore as a team of scientists working for the brand is inching closer to releasing a new energy drink that could change the way we work out.

Doctor's working for Nestle are currently working on a drink that will burn calories without spending valuable time at the gym. According to a Bloomberg report, doctors have identified a compound known as C13, which stimulates the enzymes that regulate the metabolism within the body. Not only will the drink help users burn calories and fat without a strenuous workout, but the drink can have major health benefits for the elderly and diabetics.

A scientist working explained how the product would work saying, "Instead of 20 minutes of jogging or 40 minutes of cycling, it may help boost metabolism with moderate exercise like brisk walking. They'd get similar effects with less strain."

The next step in the process is digging through fruit and plant extracts for natural substances that trigger C13, in hopes of finding some that don't taste terrible.  Don't trade in your gym membership just yet, as research is still in it's infancy and the product is still a ways away from testing on rats. It does however give light into what's to come for energy supplements and drinks, and if C13 can be found and regulated properly, could have major benefits for those looking to shed a few extra pounds. Check out the full story here, and let us know if you would be interesting in giving the drink a shot if, and when it ever becomes available.
