Even though we’ve been onto sneakers for years, it’s impossible to deny that using sneakers as fashion pieces has only recently occurred to the mainstream fashion community. But it seems that this New York Fashion Week has hit a tipping point. As streetwear brands become more accepted by the larger strata, they bring their styling along with them and that means more sneakers at more fashion shows. That also means that older, more established brands take notice and start to absorb that culture.

Just this week Hood By Air walked Nike Foamposites.

Donna Karen will be walking their upcoming PONY x DKNY collaboration designed by PONY designer Alexander Crawford for everyone to see.

Public School was seen with Air Jordans on their models.

Then, designers like Alexander Wang have wearable pieces inspired by sneakers like Air Jordan and the adidas Stan Smith.

The selection of sneakers has never been greater, and with resellers' prices starting to dip, it looks like this is more proof we’re in the Golden Age of Sneakers.
