Colombia's James Rodriguez led all World Cup scorers with six goals. In recognition of his achievement, FIFA and adidas awarded him with the Golden Boot award this morning in Madrid, home of his club team Real Madrid.

Rodriguez netted a goal in all five of Colombia's games during the World Cup, with highlights coming on his penalty kick against Brazil, as well as a stunning volley against Uruguay. Rodriguez finished ahead of Germany's Thomas Muller (five goals) and Brazil's Neymar (four goals) for the honor.

“I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of my family and my international team mates who have been there for me every step of the way,” said Rodriguez. “The tournament in Brazil was an unbelievable experience for me personally, but also for Colombia as a nation as the team reached heights we have never reached before. To finish the tournament as top goal scorer is a great achievement and I look forward to many more successes with Colombia and with my new club, Real Madrid.”

With Rodriguez's award, adidas completed a clean sweep of the FIFA World Cup trophies, as Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer won the Golden Ball and Golden Glove, respectively. In addition, both Germany and Argentina, the first and second place finishers in the tournament, are sponsored by the three stripes.
