Roger Federer's Sneakers Won't Cause a Controversy at Wimbledon This Year

Last year, Federer caused a stir with his orange-soled sneakers. This year, Nike has a much more tame option for him.

The biggest news at Wimbledon last year, for sneakerheads at least, was that Roger Federer's orange-soled Nike Vapor 9 Tours were banned from the tournament for being too bright. This year, though, Nike isn't looking to ruffle any British feathers. The footwear brand just unveiled Federer's sneakers for this year, along with Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov's, and it played things super safe.

Federer's kicks for Wimbledon 2014, the Vapor 9.5 Tours, are mostly white with either a grey Swoosh. But Nadal's sneakers are a little bit more bold: His Lunar Ballistecs have tennis ball-like highlights.

In a Nike, Inc. press release, Federer said, "You can see in what I'm wearing for London that we've honored the tradition and elegance of this tournament."

Luckily for tennis fans and sneakerheads, a pair of all-white sneakers is never a bad look—especially in the summer. Check for the sneakers on Nike.com.
