Defending champion Rita Jeptoo has crossed the finish line first at the Boston Marathon for the second consecutive year. The Kenyan runner becomes the fastest women to ever run the course from Hopkinton to Boston at a time of 2:18:57.

The victory is Jeptoo's third Boston Marathon win, as she has previously taken home titles in 2006 and 2013. Jeptoo's repeat came in a pair of Nike Zoom Streak 3s. Featuring a lightweight, breathable upper and responsive Zoom Air cushioning, this is the second year in a row that Jeptoo has worn a pair of Zoom Streak 3s for the race.

American and Boston Area-native Shalane Flanagan finished in sixth place with a personal best time of 2:22:01.
