Earlier this month, we announced that Kyle Hodge was the winner of the “The Next Sneaker Design Star” competition, and was headed to a multi-day apprenticeship with sneaker company Creative Recreation. Now, just like the Fresh Prince before him, Kyle has journeyed from Philadelphia to LA, and his sneaker design immersion experience is underway. Here's what he had to say heading into Day 1:
Hello, my name is Kyle Hodge, and I will now be working with the shoe company Creative Recreation to bring my shoe to life, and gain industry experience watching them do what they do. For my winning shoe design, I went with a high-end look, including straps, zippers, and fabric combinations such as suede and leather. Also, I kept the colorway very simple, with a light grey covering most of the shoe, and a light brown on the heel. Simplicity was my main focus, so we’ll see how it plays out in production!
