Every sneakerhead has dreamed about creating their own silhouette from scratch, but most will never get a chance to unleash their design talent on the industry. In the hopes that we can kick start a career, Complex is launching "The Next Sneaker Design Star” contest, in which a handful of the nation’s hottest young shoe designers will compete for a multi-day apprenticeship at one of our favorite companies, Creative Recreation.
Complex’s Joe La Puma will be selecting the finalists, whose standout sneaker sketches will appear here in a head-to-head battle. Complex readers will then pick the winner by voting for their favorite original sneaker design. While casting your vote, you can also enter to win prizes like a $250 Karmaloop gift card or a fresh pair of kicks.
The Creative Recreation brand was founded in 2002 as part of the movement to establish a real middle ground in men’s footwear between dress shoes and athletic sneakers. The Creative Recreation lifestyle is all about utility and versatility, offering guys something they can wear both at work and out on the town. In short, design and innovation are crucial to the brand.
