Not long after they confirmed (to the surprise of absolutely no one) that the runaway hit movie Wonder Woman would have a sequel, Warner Bros. has given the project a release date.

Wonder Woman 2 will be released on December 19, 2019, the studio announced on Tuesday. Previously, they had set aside that date for an unnamed "WB event film." While Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is reportedly in talks to direct the film, she has not yet been officially confirmed. Last month, Jenkins talked to Entertainment Weekly about her ideas for the sequel, saying that she wants to set the story in America.

Wonder Woman made a killing at the box office, making a part two all but inevitable. The movie is projected to soon pass Mama Mia! and become the highest-grossing live-action movie ever directed by a woman.

The movie's star, Gal Gadot, will return for the follow-up. Wonder Woman 2 will mark her fourth turn as the superhero, after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, and the upcoming Justice League.

Wonder Woman 2 will come out about a year after another Justice League member, Aquaman, makes his solo debut. Aquaman hits theaters in December 2018.
