Another Day, Another Lawsuit for Kim Kardashian

Devastating news on the Kardashian front.

Are you sitting down? I'm not sure how to tell you this, but Kim Kardashian's KKW Beauty line has been hit with a lawsuit. Devastating, I know. Absolutely bewildering. I just can't believe this could happen.

While I was neck-deep in my daily task of avoiding horrifying Emoji Movie advertisements, TMZ was busy turning the world as we know it upside down Tuesday. According to their report, the KKW line is at the center of a lawsuit from New York-based makeup artist Kirsten Kjær Weis. Notably, TMZ misspelled the artist's name in their report as "Weiss." For fuck's sake.

The Kjær Weis founder has alleged that Kardashian's line is "confusing consumers" with the use of its KKW logo, which she says is too close to her own KW. The suit adds that Kardashian's alleged infringement, according to TMZ-obtained documents, is "knowing, willing, and deliberate." The suit seeks damages, a halt on Kardashian's usage of KKW, and related profits.

Kardashian's team, however, completely disagrees with this assessment. The usual "sources" toldTMZ in an updated report later Tuesday night that Kardashian made sure to speak with "veteran trademark attorneys" prior to KKW's launch in an effort to prevent possible violations. Additionally, the team is confident no such infringements occurred.

What a relief. I was so worried.

This week has also included news of a lawsuit against Kylie Jenner and NBC Universal regarding imagery used in promotional items for the upcoming comedy series Life of Kylie. Bummers abound.
