Get a Look at 'Detroit,' the Best Film of the Summer | Featured Trailer of the Week

On Aug. 4, it’s time for movies to get real again.

We all know summer as a time when movie theaters are chock full of spandex, sequels, and films we tend to endure rather than actually enjoy. But on Aug. 4, Annapurna Pictures is releasing a film that is unlike anything you will see this summer—or this year.

That film is Detroit.

Based on an unbelievable true story, Detroit takes place in 1967 during the heat of the “Detroit Rebellion” riots and focuses on one fateful night at the Algiers Motel. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the Oscar-winning director of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, it features an all-star cast that includes: John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Jason Mitchell, Algee Smith, Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Miguel, Laz Alonso, Leon Thomas III and Tyler James Williams. With that cast and director combo, there’s no doubt this movie is going to be legit.

You can get a look at the film’s tense trailer in the video above. And remember, on Aug. 4, leave the popcorn blockbusters for another weekend—or another summer—and check out the one movie that everyone is going to be talking about.
