Colbert does dad jokes on 'Late Show'

The field of celebrities entering the 2020 presidential race might be getting a little more crowded. While on a Russian late night television program called Evening Urgant, Colbert announced that he was thinking about entering the 2020 presidential race. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has also hinted that he may run and of course there's the guy who's in office right now. While on the show, which is hosted by Ivan Urgant, Colbert drank shots of vodka and remarked, “OK. I am here to announce that I am considering a run for president in 2020, and I thought it would be better to cut out the middle man and just tell the Russians myself." He also said “If anyone would like to work on my campaign, in an unofficial capacity, please just let me know,” a joke that references the allegations that the Trump administration colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

Colbert was in Russia on assignment for his own late night program Late Show.

This isn't Colbert's first time trying to run for president. The popular late night host attempted to run for the presidency during the 2008 election. Colbert made the announcement in October of 2007 but eventually dropped out a month later in November after being denied inclusion on the Democratic Party ballot in South Carolina.
