In February, we learned music royalty Jay Z and Beyoncé are expecting twins.

It’s been over five years since their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, was born, and the hip-hop world was thrilled to hear the couple would welcome two more children.

Thursday (June 16), Jay Z sent out a flurry of tweets shouting out his influences after he was inducted into the Songwriting Hall of Fame. One of the tweets linked out to a video of former president Barack Obama congratulating Hov.

“I like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other,” Obama said. “Nobody who met us as younger men would've expected us to be where we are today. We know what it’s like not to have a father around. We know what it’s like not to come from much, and to know people who didn't get the same breaks that we did. So we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it’s a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well.”

What Obama said next has people claiming he inadvertently announced the gender of Jay Z and Beyoncé’s twins.

“Jay and I are also fools for our daughters, though he’s gonna have me beat once those two twins show up,” Obama said. “And let’s face it, we both have wives who are significantly more popular than we are.”

It sure seems like Obama was implying Jay Z was about to have two more daughters (Obama has two, Sasha and Malia). Quite a gender reveal, indeed.

Obama’s word choice also seems to put to rest the rumors that the couple already had the twins—depending, of course, on when the video was recorded.
