Every morning, I flirt with the idea of hiring someone to show up to work on my behalf. I, a coward, have sadly never followed through on this idea. The inspiring Hannibal Buress, on the other hand, hit us all with a big dose of bravery Wednesday night by actually pulling it off.
For Wednesday's Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere, Buress—who plays Coach Wilson in the film—sent someone on his behalf to endure the red carpet. In tweets ahead of the premiere that have since been deleted, Buress issued a call for a "a lookalike with solid comedic timing for an event tonight" and promised to pay the chosen stand-in $500.
As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, the chosen Buress stand-in was Los Angeles-based screenwriter and actor Joe Carroll. Naturally, Carroll documented the big night on Instagram:

Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Robert Downey Jr., and Martin Starr. None of them were brave enough to send paid imposters to Wednesday night's premiere. The movie, as in the actual movie and not a fake, opens to the general public July 7. Don't pay someone to see it on your behalf.
