After Marvel's Iron Fist left a bad taste in my mouth, I have to say that the official trailer for Marvel's The Defenders has me excited as hell for this series, which is officially hitting Netflix on August 18.

Remember during Comic-Con 2016, when Netflix released that weird teaser featuring Nirvana's "Come As You Are"? It looks like that's the soundtrack and theme of the series. This trailer kicks off with Luke Cage fan favorite Misty Knight interrogating Jessica Jones, only to have Matt Murdock bust in to stop the questioning.

We then see Luke and the Iron Fist bump heads in tracking the same bad guy.

And while we're not 100 percent clear on how everything fits together, we do get to see this foursome kick ass.

For those who saw it on Tuesday, Netflix's teaser of Elektra making her return has been confirmed with this trailer, although it's hard to tell what the hell she's doing. What is interesting is getting to see Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra; there's little known about her at this time, but she definitely looks like a boss and will hopefully help solve Marvel's "big bad" problem, at least in the Netflix series. It's also dope to see the ever-present Claire Temple back in the fold—and still with Luke.

Oh, you also can't front on this call-back to the first Luke Cage teaser.

Check out the full trailer above (and Netflix's synopsis below) and mark August 18 on your calendars.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
