If you've been anywhere near a WiFi connection, you've no doubt heard about the more than 50 women who have accused Bill Cosby of rape, sexual assault, sexual misconduct, and child abuse dating back as far as the 1960s. This all came about after Hannibal Buress brought the story back to the public during a stand-up performance in 2014.

Cosby has since spent the last three years denying the multitude of allegations, and has refused to speak on them during interviews, although he's not only settled a number of cases against him, but has admitted to using drugs like Quaaludes for young women that he wanted to have sex with. As new allegations have come about, Cosby's legacy, including his monumental sitcom The Cosby Show, have been all but scrubbed from the pop culture lexion, not appearing in reruns damn near anywhere, primarily because of how the media has reacted to the story.

On Monday morning, Power 105.1's Breakfast Club ran two separate statements from Bill Cosby's daughters Erinn and Ensa in which they responded to how they feel their father has been treated in the court of public opinion.

In her statement, Ensa says that she strongly believes that her father "is innocent of the crimes alleged against him and I believe that racism has played a big role in all aspects of this scandal. How my father is being punished by a society that still believes black men rape white women but passes off 'boys will be boys' when white men are accused, and how the politics of our country prove my disgust. My father has been publicly lynched in the media." Her "boys will be boys" comment is no doubt regarding Donald Trump's "locker room" conversation about "grabbing women by the pussy" that came up during the election.

Cosby's daughter Erinn released a similar statement to the show, saying that her father's legacy "has been tarnished and his livelihood taken from him, yet during this now two-year media frenzy, my father and my family’s plight has become a money maker for many trying to capitalize at his expense."

Zoe Kravitz, whose mother Lisa Bonet played Denise Huxtable on Cosby's The Cosby Show as well as its spin-off A Different World commented on how Bonet reacted to the scandal in her June 2017 cover story in Allure. "It bummed her out," Kravitz told Allure, "though she didn’t seem incredibly surprised about it. I don’t think she wants to hear about anyone being abused, especially by someone she spent so much time with. It feels shitty. You want to shower."

The timing of these statements is no coincidence; Cosby is due back in court on June 5 to start what many feel will be a two-week trial on three aggravated sexual assault charges.
