This Is How Malia Obama Is as an Intern

Lena Dunham has nothing but praise for Malia Obama's time on the 'Girls' set.

Lena Dunham dropped in on the Howard Stern Show Monday to promote Girls, her HBO comedy that's set to premiere its sixth and final season Sunday. The series, which also stars Allison Williams and fresh Star Wars icon Adam Driver, boasts an enviable presidential (not that one!) connection. Barack and Michelle Obama's oldest daughter, Malia, was a Girls intern in 2015.

"She was interning at HBO and they thought, what if she comes a couple of days a week to the set of Girls," Dunham told Stern. "Obviously, we weren't making her go get our coffee… but she wanted to do all the jobs, that was the cool thing."

Dunham added that Malia exhibited a vast knowledge of cinema. "She is so smart," Dunham recalled. "I once asked her, 'What's your favorite movie?' She was like, 'Do you want me to list it by favorite, director, writer, or cinematographer?' I was like, 'You're smarter than me, let's just be done with this topic.'" Due to Malia's age at the time, producer Jenni Konner explained, the famously graphic sex scenes of Girls couldn't be done in her presence.

In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, Girls star Andrew Rannells said the presence of the secret service was actually no disruption to the cast and crew at all. "Actually, I have to say that secret service was so stealth that it took a while to figure out, like, where she was at any given time," he said. "They really did blend in very sort of seamlessly. She really didn't disrupt our set at all."
