Benedict Cumberbatch's lucrative take on the Sorcerer Supreme will return in this year's Thor: Ragnarok. The official Disney fan club slyly confirmed Doctor Strange's appearance in Taika Waititi's Thor sequel last week, tucking the following announcement into a post about all the presumably cool shit Disney has planned for 2017:

If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.

The news, as Slash Filmreported Monday, should come as no shocker to anyone who peeped last year's Doctor Strange. An end credits scene gave us a glimpse of (SPOILER ALERT) Thor hanging with Doc at the Sanctum Sanctorum. In fact, Waititi is rumored to have been behind the camera for that clip. Thor: Ragnarok, starring the cooler Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, opens Nov. 3.

During a Reddit AMA last October, Waititi told fans his Thor film stands on its own. "I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films," Waititi said. "I honestly know NOTHING outside of what I’m doing. I’m trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie."

Cumberbatch, it seems, is super stoked on the future of his Strange embodiment despite the fact that he doesn't exactly have decades of fandom behind him. "I wasn't familiar with Doctor Strange as a child, not at all," Cumberbatch told the Guardian in October. 'So it's been a fast catch-up. But like all comics in their origination, they're very much tied into the era that they were born in, and so, you know, this one came about in an era of psychedelics and experimental drugs."
