You ever watched yourself having simulated sex with someone on film? Good for you if you have, but the practice certainly isn't for everyone. For example, Live by Night star and director Ben Affleck finds the whole process of cinematic coitus to be totally depressing. After attempting to go full steamy for some Live by Night bedroom scenes, Affleck ultimately admitted defeat and left the footage on the cutting room floor.

"I just try to make myself look as good as possible," Affleck told the Associated Press at the London premiere of Live by Night Wednesday. "I just think 'What's the most flattering sexual aspect of myself?' and I try to put that in the movie."

After running the footage back later, Affleck said he noticed some similarities between himself and the coolest Arctic Circle dweller known to man: the polar bear. "And you know what?" Affleck told the AP. "I had to cut it out, it was that depressing. I looked like a sick polar bear."

Live by Night, which to my knowledge includes zero polar bears, opens wide on Jan. 13. The 1920s crime drama also stars Elle Fanning and Zoe Saldana and is reportedly pretty good at nailing the feel of the period, though a ton of people are instead spending their days clamoring for updates on Affleck's next big project: The Batman.

Affleck, as he told Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week, would simply like everyone to chill with the speculation. "It's one of those things that’s really frustrating because like with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, it's just nobody gave a shit," he said. "No one was like 'Where's Live by Night?!' But with Batman I keep getting the like, 'Where's the fucking Batman?!' and I'm like 'Bro, I'm working. Give me a second!'"
