Legendary actress, singer, and mother-of-Carrie-Fisher Debbie Reynolds died on Wednesday night of a heart attack, just a day after her daughter. In the hours after Reynolds' death, the star of such classic films as Singin' in the Rain and How the West Was Won received tributes from show business figures all over the spectrum, from her peers in their eighties and nineties to pop stars of today, and just about everyone in between.

Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus were among the young artists to express their grief:

How shocked we were to learn that Debbie Reynolds passed away just a day after her daughter Carrie. I loved & worked both of these icons.

Showbiz legends like Carl Reiner, Debbie Allen, Albert Brooks, Bette Midler, and more—many of whom had worked with Reynolds over the years—offered up their thoughts.

Debbie Reynolds, God is holding you and Carrie in his hands.
We will always speak your name🌈
Love you, Debbie Allen

#DebbieReynolds has just died. This is too hard to comprehend. Beautiful, talented, devoted to her craft, she follows Carrie, dead days ago.
