Sony quietly dropped a new international trailer for T2: Trainspotting Wednesday, offering fans of Danny Boyle's 1996 classic a closer look at how Mark "Rent Boy" Renton (Ewan McGregor) and company are holding up after all these years. "Choose watching history repeat itself," McGregor says in the latest glimpse at the long-awaited sequel, again referencing what is arguably the original film's most-quoted passage:

But will T2 be an open-and-shut case of repeating history? Though Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner, and Robert Carlyle are all returning alongside fellow OG star McGregor, any actual plot details have been closely guarded by Boyle and the studio. However, as shown in these first glimpses, T2 will definitely have the heroin-laced events of the late 1980s on the brain.

Speaking with Radio X earlier this month, McGregor defined the cultural impact of Boyle's original film as on par with that of underappreciated Manchester rock legends Oasis. "I watched that Supersonic documentary last night about Oasis and it made me feel really extraordinarily elated, because I was such an Oasis fan, and at the same time just so depressed that that time's gone," McGregor said. "And that reminded me about that time from Trainspotting. We were sort of the Oasis of the movie world."

The sequel, McGregor promised, has "all of that nostalgia" tucked into its story. "I think we'll be very touched by it," he said.

Find out if McGregor is keeping it 💯 when T2: Trainspotting finally hits theaters in the U.S. starting Mar. 3.
