Snowpiercer was definitely one of the best movies of 2014, but can it be a great TV show?

That depends partly on the man who co-wrote and directed the movie, Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, who will serve as an executive producer on a one-hour television pilot from Tomorrow Studios that was ordered by cable network TNT, Variety reports.

Set in 2031, the film takes place in a post-apocalyptic ice age accidentally triggered by a failed attempt to solve global warming. What remains of humanity lives aboard a globe-spanning train that stays in perpetual motion, where the rich and privileged live luxuriously in the front cars, guarded by armed soldiers.

Chris "Captain America" Evans starred as the leader of a revolt of the less privileged, dirty masses who live in the rear of the train, and want to take control of the engine and the future of the world. The film featured the kind of insane lines you'd never hear in a Marvel movie, such as: "You know what I hate about myself? I know what people taste like. I know that babies taste best."

The movie was based on the French graphic novel by Jacques Lob, Le Transperceneige, which was published in English for the first time ever in 2014.

"'Snowpiercer' has one of the most original concepts to hit the screen in the last decade, and it's one that offers numerous opportunities for deeper exploration in a series format," Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT, told Variety in a statement.
